The Grecian Bay Beach.
Originally called "PANTAHOO BEACH"

The original name of this Beach is PANTAHOO. Later it took the name of the first hotel which was built in 1976,
The Grecian Bay Hotel, so sometimes people call it Grecian Beach, or Ayia Napa Beach, cause its the nearest
to Ayia Napa town. Its 885 meters long and apx 40-50 meters wide. If you walk straight from the center of town
down to the sea you will come to the harbor, seen on the pic above. The beach starts straight to the left, if you're looking
at the sea. There is sun beds and umbrellas, kiosks and restaurants at the beginning, offering showers and WC to everybody.
The bottom of the sea at the very beginning of the beach is rocky, so its best if you walk a bit further,
toward the Grecian Bay Hotel where its sandy and clear.

This is the middle of the beach, in front of the Grecian Hotel. The water of the sea is like you see it on the photo, in reality!

A few words about this beach

On the beginning of the beach, sun beds are very close to each other. Sun beds belong to different people,
and some to the Municipality as well. Using sun beds and umbrellas requires payment, no matter for how long
you will stay, if that's 10 min or the whole day. So don't use them, unless you are planning to stay and pay.
The price has been set to euro 2.10 each. Some charge only 2 euros. There is no public WC or showers.
The ones in the near by restaurants can be used. Better to ask anyway. Its very unlikely to get No for an answer
and it shows politeness. While you are relaxing on the beach, someone might come to talk to you and try to sell
a ticket for a boat trip or give you a card for a restaurant or a club or anything else. This are called promoters, or PRs.
It is not allowed for them to do this, by law as they can be very annoying. Generally its not allowed to disturb people on the
beach. But its very difficult for the authorities to enforce the law, therefore in case this happens to you, just look for the
life guard and complain. Do the same also, incase you get disturbed by others, playing different games like beach ball,
or playing loud music or anything that might disturb you. The life guard central posts is the yellow towers,
which can be seen from anywhere you are.
